Chapter History

OUR MISSION

Founded in 1852, Phi Mu is a women's organization which provides personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. Phi Mu promotes vibrant living, encouraging members to achieve their personal best.

Phi Mu Fraternity was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. It began as the Philomathean Society, a literary society, and is the second oldest secret society for women in the nation. The Philomathean Society became Phi Mu Fraternity in 1904. We have provided social opportunities, a support network, and personal enrichment resources to members for over 150 years. In that time over 175 000 Phi Mu women have been vibrant members of college campuses and we have chartered over 228 chapters. As Phi Mu promotes vibrant living, all members are encouraged to achieve their personal best. The Phi Mus here in the Kappa Mu chapter try to commit to these standards.
